श्री राम सेनेचे मुख्य श्री प्रमोद मुतालिक ह्यांनी बंगलोरला सुरू केलेल्या पब च्या अभियानाच्या विरुध्द , काही सोशल नेटवर्किंग साइट .. “कन्सोर्टियम ऑफ़ लुज फ़ॉर्वर्ड पब गोइंग वुमेन” अशा नावाचा एक सोशल ग्रुप आहे फेस बुक वर. त्यांच्या मेंबर्सनी हे पिंक अंडरविअर प्रमोदजींना पाठवायचं अवाहन केलं आहे. त्यांनी पुरुषांना पण त्यांची जी असेल ती अंडरवेअर प्रमोदजींना पाठवायची विनंती केली आहे.
बरं ह्या गृपचं नांव पण बघा त्यामधे “फॉरवर्ड” शब्द आहे. म्हणजे ह्या स्त्रियांना असं म्हणायचं आहे का की पब मधे जाउन दारु पिणे हे फॉरवर्ड असल्याचे लक्षण आणि पब मधे जाउन न पिणाऱ्या मुली बॅकवर्ड?? .
प्रमोदजीना मुख्यत्वे करुन जास्तीत जास्त संख्येने लेडीज गुलाबी अंडरविअर्स पाठवण्यात येणार आहेत. एक दोन नव्हेत, तर कमीत कमी ३०००. जर तुम्हाला अंडरविअर पाठवणे शक्य नसेल, तर तुम्ही त्या गुलाबी अंडरवेअरचे चित्र पण पाठवू शकता असा संदेश फेस बुक वर दिला जातो आहे.
नशिब, फेस बुक हे फारसं लोकप्रिय नाही भारतामधे ऑर्कुट प्रमाणे.. तरीही, चांगला प्रतिसाद मिळतो आहे ह्या कॅंपेनला. ह्या कॅंपेन मधे सहभागी होणारे लोक कोण आहेत?? तर मिडिया मधे काम करणाऱ्या स्त्रिया, काही उच्च वर्गिय मुली ज्यांच्या घरी पबिंग चालतं.. राम सेनेने ह्या सगळ्या कँपेनर्स चा फॅमीलि बॅकग्राउंड काय? म्हणून उलट प्रश्न उपस्थित केला आहे..
आमचं एक्स्पर्ट मत, ’अहो, आता इतकं रिसेशन आहे, लोकांना पिंक स्लिप्स मिळताहेत, आणि तुम्हाला हे गुलाबी चड्ड्यांचं काय सुचतंय??’
काही दिवसापुर्वी मंगलोरला पब मधे जाउन मुलींना केलेली मारहाण , कॅमेऱ्यामधे बंदिस्त करुन नेट वर पण प्रसारित झा्ली होती, ती तुम्ही बघितली असेलच.
ह्या संदर्भात एक टिप्पणी कराविशी वाटते, जर त्या कॅमेरामन ला आणि न्युज चॅनलला आधी पासून जर माहिती होते की इथे काहीतरी “फिड” मिळणार आहे, तर त्यांनी पोलिसांच्या सक्षम अधिकाऱ्यांना कां तशी कल्पना दिली नाही?( हा प्रश्न खरं तर मला नेहेमीच सतावतो.. इज इट द ऑलमायटी ऑफ इंडीया? [ ह्या इर्विंग वॅलेस च्या पुस्तकात अशीच स्टोरी होती] )
माझा एक प्रश्न तुम्हा सगळ्यांसाठी…
जर एखादी मुलगी पब मधून “पिऊन” बाहेर आली ( भारतामधे बरं कां) तर तुमचे त्या मुली बद्दल चे मत काय होईल? अर्थात काही लोक म्हणतील की , “इट्स ओके.. इट्स हर चॉइस” व्हएर ऍज काही लोक मात्र ह्या गोष्टीचा मना पासून तिरस्कार वगैरे करतील.
बरं हाच प्रश्न थोडा दुसऱ्या तऱ्हेने विचारतो…
तुमच्या घरच्या स्त्रियांनी , बहिणी , बायकॊ, इत्यादी नी पब मधे जाउन बिअर पिणं तुम्हाला आवडेल का??
उत्तर नक्कीच नाही असं आहे.. हो नां? मी स्वतः उजव्या विचारसरणीचा आहे. तरी पण माझ्या मते मॉरल पोलिसिंग किंवा या पब मधे गेलेल्या मुलींना मारहाण वगैरे कधीही समर्थनीय होऊ शकत नाही.
मॉरल पोलिसिंग न करता जर मोरल चेंज केल तर जास्त फायदा होईल..मला असं वाटतं की अशा गोष्टींसाठी स्वयंशासन जास्त महत्वाचे. मुंबई ला बघा, कुठेही लोकं आपण होऊन रांग लावतात.त्या करता त्यांना कोणी काही सांगायची गरज नसते.
तसेच हे आहे..लोकांनाच आपणहून कळले पाहिजे की स्वतः करता किंवा समाजा करता काय चांगले आणि काय वाईट आहे ते.
रेग्युलर पबर्स चा एक वेगळा क्लास आहे भारतामधे , ते लोक मासेस मधे मोडत नाही. तेंव्हा ह्या आंदोलनाला फक्त मॉडेल्स, पेज ३ सोसायटी किंवा अती श्रीमंत लोकं, जे लोक पब मधे जाऊन दारू पिणे या साठी पैसे खर्च करू शकतात – अशाच लोकांचाच पाठिंबा मिळेल. साधारण मध्यमवर्गीय लोकांना ह्या सगळ्या प्रकाराशी काही घेणे देणे नाही.अशा वरच्या वर्गातल्या मुलींना पबिंग करतांना पाहून मध्यमवर्गीय मु्लींना पण यात काही वावगं वाटेनासं झालंय असं मत प्रमोदजींनी व्यक्त केलं
जरी आपण असं म्हंटलं की” प्रमोदजींचा मार्ग चुकिचा आहे, पण त्यांचां मुद्दा बरोबर आहे”, ………तर…. आपण हिटलरच्या बाबतितही हेच म्हणु शकतो..
बरं एवढंच काय कमी होतं तर रेणुका चौधरी.. अहो आपल्या त्या मंत्री आहेत ना,”वुमन ऍंड चाइल्ड डेव्हलपमेंट मंत्री” त्यांची सुकन्या तेजस्विनी चौधरी( कसलं जबरी नांव आहे नाही कां?) हिने पण आपणही काही कमी नाही हे दाखवण्यासाठी एक “पब भरो आंदोलन” १४ फेब ला डीक्लिअर केलंय..
अशा भारदस्त नावाच्या आणि एका मंत्र्याच्या मुलीकडुन अशा चिल्लर आंदोलनाची अपेक्षा कधीच नव्हती. बरं आंडोक्लन कर्त्यांनी हे डिक्लिअर केले नाही की पब मधे “भरल्यावर” पैसे द्यायचे की आंदोलन कर्त्यांनी तसेच पळून जायचे? जर पैसे द्यायचे नसतिल तर हे आंदोलन १००टक्के यशस्वी होइल..जर पैसे द्यायचे नसतिल तर आमचे काही बंगलोरचे मित्र क्रॉस ड्रेसिंग करुन पब मधे आंदोलन करण्यासाठी जाण्यास तयार आहेत..:)
रेणुका चौधरी यांचं असंही म्हणणं आहे की त्यांचे आंदोलन हे गांधीजींच्या मार्गाने नेण्या साठीच ही पब भरो आंदोलनाची रुपरेषा आखली आहे…. यावर माझे मत असे आहे, की , गांधीजींनी कधी “पब” करता आंदोलन केल्याचे आमच्या तरी ऐकिवात नाही. सत्याग्रह.. कशासाठी तर.. पब मधे जाउन दारु पिणे हा आमचा अधिकार आहे … त्या साठी.. मला तर हसावं की काय तेच कळत नाही..

या रेणुका आणि तेजस्विनिला एकच सांगावंसं वाटतं, ” काही तरी कन्स्ट्रक्टिव्ह करा तेजस्वीनी बाई तुम्ही, हे काही फार काळ चालणार नाही..”
बरं , आत्ता पर्यंत जवळपास ३००० अंडरपॅंट्स जमा झाल्या आहेत. दिल्ली ची एक मीडिया हाउस मधे काम करणारी सुसान नावाची मुलगी आहे, तिचे म्हणणे असे आहे की गुलाबी हा प्रेमाचा रंग आहे आणि लाजवण्या साठी म्हणून अंडरविअर.. असं कॉंबिनेशन केलं आहे प्रमोदजींना पाठवण्या साठी. आता प्रमोदजी ह्याचा कसा फायदा घेतात तेच बघायचं आहे.
प्रमोदजी त्या अंडरविअर्सची होळी करतात, की त्याचे तोरण करुन रेणुका चौधरी ह्यांच्या घरासमोर लावतात हे बघायला आवडेल .
काय वाटेल ते........ 
Extreme situations always invite extreme and yes, eccentric reactions. This kind of campaigns are not very novel. I think the society finds a golden mean by distilling out such actions/ reaction and by analyzing causes for both. For example, the women’s liberation movement had pretty extreme campaigns in the begining. Those were necessary to get the message across. After a while, people were able to see both the sides of the story and now I think at least ( and may be only) the urban India has settled down to accept the equality partly because of the need for women to carry equal responsibility and in part because of the conviction and respect they have generated as a result fo their persistence and perseverence in terms of career and home.
However, in this case, the cause does not justify such a movement:-)) If I were a woman, I would ignore this campaign. We must however insist on security at pubs, nobody should get beaten up. But really…, making this a “‘social cause” is beyond my understanding. There are only a few women who can relate to this campaign and they will anyway keep doing what they want to do becuase they don’t have much to do with the rest of the society- unlike the middle class ones who ( typically not 100%) keep the rest of society as a referrence ( Lok kay mhanateel?)

This is your blog and you can write whatever you feel. I guess thats what the name of your blog suggests. But one thing is for sure… ONLY SICK MINDED PEOPLE CAN SUPPORT FEMALE BASHING by so called Ram Sene. (Why are they using Lord Ram’s name). Ok so u are asking what I would feel when my mon, sis or wifey goes to pub.. I would ask you one question. Would u still support the so called massiha of Hindu Culture when his goons misbehave with your child just because she is seen talking with her male friend in her college or school.
May Ram only help people like you who are going the TALIBAN WAY
You may also want to cover the ‘on-spot-wedding’ threat that some organizations are propagating to stop the young couples from ‘making out’ in public on valentine’s day ..
Now do we encourage our young girls/boys to do this in public? ( Obvious answer there.) But would we like some organizations to’wed them’ ( whatever that means…) on the spot??? once again- the answer is obvious.
I hope the courts declare that such weddings are not legal- if they happen. More important the society should denounce such a stupidity.
But in repsonse to this threat ,if boys and girls start say- ‘ wedding karo abhiyan’ :-)) to counter the cultural police, we cannot call that a “social cause” right?….

What was ‘talibanish’ about the article I wonder… It clearly states ‘moral policing should be stopped’. and it insists on self discipline.
In the incident under discussion, both the parties- ram sene and the pub going women are acting in an immature way. The article is a dig at their way of addressing the problem and glorifying the “cause.”
Ram sene is primeaval in its expectations of women. AND -NO one should beat up men or women in any public place- not just pubs. We need security in place so that the freedom is granted to those who wish to avail it.
But seriously- pub going is a “cause”???? it’s your right if you so choose, but what’s the social aspect? what good will the ‘pub bharo’ serve in the long term?
We need to get this right- If the cause is liberty / social rights of women, it should be highlighted and stated appropriately and put in the right context. Don’t we need a more dignified approach here? one that befits really strong women?
I remember that a young lady in Gujrath (or rajasthan , I forget the place) chose to appear in her innerware on road because the police would not register her complaint against domestic violence by husband and in-laws. This was an extreme reaction BUT THE SOCIAL CAUSE WAS BEFITTING SUCH A REACTION!!! Even legal eagles like Soli Sorabji said that what remained in one’s mind was not what she wore but what she was saying.so the step she took to be heard was correct!. now that ‘s a strong woman and I appluad her. What do you say?
